Eclipse is a decorative light fixture inspired by the aluminum extrusion process. It relies on a post process technique that involves twisting the extrusion to create a track that allows two metal light shades to transition from focused lighting to ambient light. The power for the light is housed in the base, and is conducted to the light sources through the aluminum.

The design idea was initially inspired by the flexibility and movement of track lighting, which commonly uses the extrusion process.

Initially I was approaching the design of this light fixture as if the extrusion itself was the shade. I found myself limited by these parameters and decided to approach it in a way that uses the extrusion process not as the light shade itself, but as a mechanism that provides an interesting opportunity for movement.
